Four words describe the essence of the museum, the celebration of the stories of service to country and the benefits that built the Inland Northwest community.
They describe in part, the way the community was built, providing infrastructure to serve bases, beginning with the Army, continuing through strong Navy and Air Force presence which in turn provided jobs for supporting businesses pacing Spokane’s development.
They describe the advances in our community’s civil aviation that paced the needs for armed forces and aerospace technology in service to country, a beneficial relationship that today continues to contribute to regional growth and educational opportunities.
They describe the way the community was enriched by the diversity in culture and education that individuals brought to Spokane during their service, and in many cases brought back to Spokane when they returned.
Finally, these four words describe the leadership and wisdom that those with veteran and career service contribute to our businesses, schools, institutions and government. Most of all, the daily lives of the families who make up our communities are informed by the sacrifices veterans have made and their memories.
These four words describe the heart of the stories of the Armed Forces & Aerospace Museum. Using the context of the history of the development of the community to more effectively present stories of discovery, sacrifice and service to country, the museum will become a regional asset enriching our quality of life.
